10 boys from Wyoming Valley showed up to the field at 9:30 with  cloudy skies, light rain and a bone chilling temperature of 42 degree looming heavily over them.  Spirits were low as a restless night and a long 2.5hour ride worked its way out of their sleepy bodies.  A quick cheer and pre game ritual led by Jaden "Legs" Longdon soon put the boys into energy overdrive as they sped out onto the field for the opening kickoff. The front line,  once again,  of Marcelo "ANDO" Scotto D'Appolinio, Marcelo "Cheeseburger" Rodriguez, and Cole "Post" Williams let from their offensive positions and pounced on their prey from Kirkwood. Midfielders Max "Wheels" Pasczewski and Tanner "The Foot" Nilon quickly followed their front line down field into Kirkwood territory.  Crisp passing and verbal communication kept the ball in Kirkwood territory until Tanner "The Foot" Nilon blasted his first of four goals from about 25 yards out.  This was the beginning of the end for Kirkwood!!  Unfortunately, they stood no chance against a wall of defense dominated by Jaden "Legs" Longdon , Logan "Spike" Davisson, Mikey "Mayhem" Mikeicz and Cooper "Hair-doo" Wood.  Final Score  WVSC 8: Kirkwood 2

Two hours loomed in front of the WVSC boys presenting  a major challenge to their parents.  Keeping these boys warm, well fed and  hydrated would not  appear to be daunting task UNLESS  you have a 9 yr old boy with endless energy and 9 of his buddies around him looking to do anything but sit in a car and watch a movie.  Luckily, both  team and parents survived the 2 hours of torture with Dunkin Donuts, cheeseburgers and various snacks (most of which would make dentist cringe!) and we headed off to the field to warm up.  As we approached,  a team of tall and what looked to be very athletic boys dressed in all black were just starting to warm up on the sidelines.  They moved  quickly with sharp passing and fancy footwork.  Was this the team that was going to brake  this team from Wyoming Valley?? Time would only tell.  As the boys lined up, tension riddled the sidelines. Soon the whistle blew and both teams were off.  WVSC quickly took the ball into PENN territory but was stuffed at the goal and the ball was launched downfield.  Both teams  sprinted  down the field with mud and grass flinging everywhere.  This is the way it went for most of the game.  Back and forth.  Back and forth.   Unfortunately, PENN was first to strike on a quick goal from inside the box.  Joel "The Wall" Vazquez was finally going to be tested. 

The second half started with the WVSC boys down 0-1.  Down may have been what the score showed but not for a minute in their hearts.  A ferocious offense and defense kept the ball in PENN territory and soon "Antonio "ANDO" Scotto D'Appolinio was able to put a well placed shot over the goalies head and into the back of the net.  GOAL!~!!!!!!!!!   The boys and crowd went wild.  The game was tied.  Now the time had come to lay it all on the line.  These boys needed to dig deep if they wanted to continue their streak and dig they did.  Elbows, slide tackles, head balls and big blasts dominated the 2nd half.  Soon WVSC had the ball in the PENN red zone with an accurate well placed pass to Cole "Post " Williams .  Would COLE  be able to break  his streak of hitting the post similar to Jordan and the Rim, Gretzky and the cross bar???? YES!!!  Brilliant footwork and a well placed kick sent the ball into the net!!   High Fives and back slaps were abound.  Its was all Coach Marian could do to settle the boys and get them focused on the next five minutes of the game.  Defense was key and outstanding goal tending by Joel "The Wall" Vazquez was too much for the PENN Team.  WVSC 2: Penn 1.

 A final, long arching shot by Max "Wheels" Pasczewski sailed into the net and the boys had done it.  They had won their bracket and dominated  play from one end of the field to the other.  Go WVSC!

Side note:  Cudos to Logan 'Spike" Davison who played out of his shoes for all three games!!   

Started off with the Wyoming Team  players still a little sleepy from the 1.5 hour ride.  This would all change soon with an extremely fast paced offense led by Marcelo Rodriguez, son of Javier and Marion Rodriguez and Head Coaches for the Wyoming Valley club, Cole Williams,   Antonio Scotto D'apollonio  and Logan Davison.  Goal one was scored within minutes of opening kickoff and it was all downhill for thje SC Dragons from there.  The speed , tenacity and agilityof Midfielders  Max Pasczewski  and Tanner Nilon combined with the staunch defense  of all around utility player Mikey and Cooper Wood would prove way too much for the Buckingham team.  Standout goalie Joel Vasquez was quiet this game as the Wyoming Valley team kept the ball in the Dragons wheelhouse for most of the game.  Final Score:  WVSC 11 and the Dragons 0. MVP: Antonio Scotto D'Apollonio.

Game 2 saw the WVSC Boys lined up against an untested UMNSC Patriots team.  This game commenced at 1:00 and began much like the first with a slower start,  but lightning would soon strike and the and the Wyoming team was on fire.  Unmatched speed, solid fundamentals  and fast thinking by all team members put the WVSC club  up a few goals immediately. Outstanding  corner kicking by Marcelo Rodriguez set up ESPN Highlight goals by Cole Williams and Antonio Scotto D'Appolionio .  "Who is this team from Northeaster PA and can they be stopped was the question puzzling the crowd of spectators at the Buckingham field on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. ".  Again, an extremely talented goalie  Joel Vazquez was relatively untested aside from a few weak shots on goal which wud be met with a tremendous punts back into the Patriots zone.   Final Score: WVSC 6  Patriots 1  MVP: Marcelo Rodriguez

Game 3 and the Finals.  2 hours seperated this WVSC team and its meeting with the Buckingham United SC Rage. Nerves were calmed and hunger met with hot dogs and hoagies.  Anxiety was still high though amongst players and parents as they mentally prepared for the most important game of the day: The Championship.  As 3:30 approached the WVSC club,  dressed in Navy Blue Jerseys and shorts began their series of stretches and pre-game warmups. You could cut the tension with a knife as the time had finally come and both teams took the field to the sell out crowd of family and friends.  A quick start seemed to show that this Buckinham team was up for the challenge against this team from Northeatern Pa with some good speed and fancy ball handling.  WVSC though fought hard and soon put the first goal of the game in the net.  Unfortunately, for the WVSC team their excitement was soon quelled by a quick strike and score from the Rage.  Joel Vazquez was going to be a much more important part of this game and he did not disappoint holding the Rage to only that one goal.  The WVSC team dominated from one end of the field to the other with quick , one touch passing, speed and solid defense.  Final: WVSC 8 Rage 2.  MVP: Marcelo Rodriguez.
